Khan Academy is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere. Their website is a resource for students, parents, teachers, and districts. Students and parents can participate in free online courses to better understand their own school material. They offer free online courses for students and(or) their parents. They provide hundreds of available courses, sorted by school year and topic.
This is what Khan Academy’s website has to say about what they offer:
Students practice at their own pace, first filling in gaps in their understanding and then accelerating their learning.
Created by experts, Khan Academy’s library of trusted, standards-aligned practice and lessons covers math K-12 through early college, grammar, science, history, AP®, SAT®, and more. It’s all free for learners and teachers.
Tools to empower teachers
With Khan Academy, teachers can identify gaps in their students’ understanding, tailor instruction, and meet the needs of every student.
To Get Started
Go to their website https://www.khanacademy.org/
As a student or parent, you create a free Khan Academy account and then just click on Courses at the top and click on the Course you would like to take. Take as many as you like– the more courses you take on a subject or topic, the better you will understand it.
The reason this website is for parents also is that Khan Academy wants to give parents the tools they need to engage with their children and help them with their schoolwork.
Teachers and school administrators can also use Khan Academy to provide their students with the specific content they want available to their students, without having to create their own online learning environment.
